Ear Ache Drops
Preparation
The Preparation: Add the mullein buds to a clean, sanitized pint glass jar.
The Extraction: Pour the olive oil over the herbs until fully submerged.
The Slow Steep: Seal and store in a cool, dark place for 4 to 8 weeks shaking gently every other day to draw out the herbs' antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
The Fine Strain: This step is crucial. Strain the oil through a fine-mesh sieve so no plant particles remain. Use a very fine metal strainer, not cheesecloth or a coffee filter, which waste product.
The Bottling: Using a sterilized funnel, pour the oil into 2 oz amber glass dropper bottles, which preserve potency for up to a year. Label with the date and store in a cool, dry place.
Ingredients
1 oz Fresh or Dried Organic Mullein Buds/Flowers
How it Works
Ear pain doesn't just hurt; it stops everything. Like the mothers and grandmothers before us, we believe in remedies that are as effective as they are gentle. A 2003 clinical trial published in Pediatrics confirmed what healers have long known: natural Garlic and Mullein extracts are remarkably effective at reducing pain. At Flattop Mountain Herbs, we handcraft our ear oil from garlic cloves and fresh mullein buds to bring that relief home.
Fresh Mullein Buds: A natural painkiller that calms swollen tissues in the ear canal and fights minor germs.
Olive Oil Base: Safely softens hardened earwax to ease blockages, with no harsh synthetic chemicals.
Miss Martha’s Tip
Unlike synthetic drops, our oil is gentle enough for most people. Still, always consult your medical practitioner before use.
CRITICAL: If you suspect a perforated eardrum or see drainage, stop use and seek medical attention immediately.
