The Sun-Drenched Glow: A Botanical Skin Revival
Your skin is your largest organ, and it deserves to be fed with the same purity as the food on your table. At Flattop Mountain Herbs, we believe true radiance comes from the slow, steady infusion of sunshine and wildflowers. Our Body Oil isn't just a moisturizer; it’s a bottled meadow, meticulously crafted over several months to capture the calming, restorative essence of the Blue Ridge. While commercial lotions rely on synthetic fillers, our oil delivers raw, plant-powered nutrients directly to your skin, leaving it silky, resilient, and naturally luminous.
The Harvest Secret: From Field to Infusion
The magic of this oil begins the moment the blooms are gathered. When I pick fresh flowers and buds, I lay them out on a table for a few hours—a "breathing period" that allows the tiny insects to crawl out and return to the wild.
If you can’t harvest the flowers yourself, we have provided links below to purchase them. Dandelion flowers are normally only available on ETSY.
Once cleaned, the botanicals must be dried to prevent spoilage in the oil. While a cookie sheet in a warm oven or a sunny tabletop works in a pinch, I’ve found that a dedicated food dehydrator is the gold standard for preserving medicinal potency. The Cosori Dehydrator is a homestead workhorse; it efficiently processes two full tabletops worth of fresh harvests, ensuring our herbs are perfectly dried and ready to release their vitamins into the infusion.

The "Meadow Glow" Recipe
1/2 oz Dried Organic Dandelion Flowers
4 oz Organic Olive Oil
Realized Yield: Approximately 8–9 oz of finished oil.
Our Artisanal Process:
Steep: In one sanitized quart glass jar., submerge the Dandelion, Calendula and Lavender in the Olive and Canola oils.
The Seasoning: Store both jars in a cool, dark place for 2 to 3 months, shaking weekly to maximize the extraction.
The Union: Strain through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth, squeezing the flowers to extract every potent drop. Combine the infusions in a clean glass pitcher.
The Bottling: Using a small funnel, pour the oil into 4oz amber glass bottles. These dark bottles are essential for protecting the delicate floral properties from light.
How to Use:
Apply to slightly damp skin immediately after a bath. The oil locks in moisture, absorbing deeply to leave a healthy, non-greasy glow.
A Note from the Flattop Mountain Herbs:
Because we use real, seasonally-dried flowers, you may notice slight variations in color and scent—just as nature intended.
